Bogus $100 Lead To Charges

OPP have charged a Couchiching First Nation man with using a counterfeit 100-dollar bill.

Surveillance equipment at an unnamed business where the bogus cash was used helped identify a suspect.

The 26-year-old makes a court appearance in March.

Police say some indicators are appearing on counterfeit money that has been circulated in parts of the region.

The bills are thick paper, not polymer. The translucent plastic on these bills is just tape. There are hash marks on the top right corner of the face side of the bill, or the corner maybe just cut off. In all examples, the maple leaf on the left side is not translucent and is not a hologram.

You can also check out the Bank of Canada website for security features you can find on the Canadian money.
