Queen’s Park Exchange Draws Criticism

Premier Doug Ford is facing some criticism for comments made in the Ontario legislature on Wednesday.

They came during an exchange with NDP leader Andrea Horwath over her accusations the Premier is not listening to medical experts.

“Rather than sending inaccurate information out to the public and hurting the public, why don’t you come and join us to support the people of Ontario for once, rather than just sit there and criticize and criticize? It’s like listening to nails on a chalkboard, listening to you,” said Ford.

The comment drew a reaction from the opposition MPPs.

Howarth later saying the Premier always goes to the worst places when he doesn’t like the questions that the opposition is asking.

Comments on social media were more damning.

Labour Critic Peggy Sattler among those calling the comment sexists and misogynistic.

Education Critic Marit Stiles wrote,” We need to address the misogynistic, sexist attitude of this Premier & his government.”

Political activist Pam Palmater weighed in by suggesting the Premier needs to stop with the “sexist comments against women politicians.”
