Former Nursing Station To Come Down In 2021

A former mill nursing station will be demolished.

The town of Fort Frances took ownership of the Mowatt Avenue building a few years ago when they acquired the former Shevlin Woodyard.

Operations and Facilities manager Travis Rob says the building is becoming a bit of an operational problem for them.

“We’ve had an uptake in entry into that site from various people, living in it, lighting fires in it. We’ve been trying to keep it boarded up. It’s an ongoing struggle,” says Rob.

Its removal has been identified in a proposed Gateway Project.

A final draft report into that is coming to council next week.
