COVID-19 vaccines are starting to roll out to long-term care homes in northwestern Ontario.
85-year-old Eunice Fiddler, a resident of the William A. George Extended Care Facility in Sioux Lookout, was the first there to receive the Moderna vaccine on Thursday.
The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre received doses of the vaccine this week in anticipation of the rollout of Ontario’s vaccination implementation plan for the region.
The province is rolling out the vaccine in three phases, with a focus on the most vulnerable populations first.
No word yet when vaccines will be made available to long-term care home residents and health care workers in the Rainy River district.
