Funding For New School Secure

Ontario’s Northern Development Minister is making it official.

Greg Rickford announcing the Rainy River District School Board is receiving more than $10-million to build a new K-to-12 school in Rainy River.

It will replace the current Rainy River High and Riverview Elementary Schools, bringing all students under one roof.

The province approved the project earlier this year after it was deemed renovating Rainy River High was not feasible.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $16.8 million.

The new school is expected to open by the start of the 2023 school year.
