Burst The Bus ReWorked

We won’t be bursting a bus, but 93.1 The Border is ready to help the Salvation Army collect toys for Christmas.

The 93.1 The Border Toy Drive will take place on November 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It replaces the successful Burst A Bus campaign because of the pandemic.

The Salvation Army’s Arthur Heathcote says collection this year will be at their Scott Street office.

“On November 28, they (93.1 The Border) will be broadcasting all day asking children and family to come to the Salvation Army at 351 Scott Street and drop off unwrapped toys to us,” says Heathcote.

Heathcote says a special guest will be showing up to help.

“Sally Ann will be making an appearance all day. She’ll be waving at families and children from the front plate glass windows. She was just so excited that The Border was one top of this, so she cleared her schedule. She’s going to come down to Fort Frances and spend the day with us,” Heathcote.

This will be Sally’s first visit to Fort Frances.

The toys collected will be distributed to families who have applied for Christmas hampers this year. Heathcote says it’s why campaigns like this are important.

“It’s one thing to be confronted with Christmas looming and wondering how you’re going to get toys for the kids. Just to know that the community cared enough that they came together and made sure that there are toys available for their children makes all the difference in the world.”

Heathcote notes toys for children of all ages will be welcomed.
