Less Money For Rainy River District

There is less provincial money coming to several municipalities in the Rainy River district.

Four communities will see more money in 2021 from the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund.

The program was put in place several years to help northern and rural municipalities cope with the downloading of provincial services.

For 2021, Fort Frances is getting $3,328,600, an increase of $34,000.

The township of LaVallee will see $291,800, up $5,000.

Lake of the Woods township gets $4,000 more to $652,800.

Emo’s allocation is up $2,000 to $414,700.

Chapple township has the largest drop among all area communities. Its allocation for 2021 is $469,600, $40,000 less than received this year.

Atikokan will get $1,673,800, $20,000 less.

The township of Morley is losing $8,000 in its allocation of $208,800.

The township of Alberton’s sees $170,200, a drop of $4,000.

Dawson township receives $499,500, down $7,000.

Rainy River’s allocation of $631,000 is unchanged from this year.
