There has been a fatal snowmobile accident in northern Minnesota,
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says a 72-year-old man was killed after the snowmachine he was driving left a trail in Crane Lake Township, southeast of International, and struck a tree.
Friends that he was with provided until medical personnel arrived, but the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The man is identified as being from Glenville, Minnesota, but his name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate but says speed may have been a factor in the crash.
