If you receive a call from the Fort Frances Courthouse, it is likely bogus.
OPP reporting scammers are now using phone numbers associated with the Courthouse in order to seek out personal information from unsuspecting victims.
It’s known as Phishing and is a crime.
Police say the Courthouse does not make calls asking for such things as banking information or your social insurance number or collect money on behalf of the Canada Revenue Agency.
If you receive such as call, simply hang up.
You can also report the call to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre or Crime Stoppers.
