Voyageur Lions Club 2020 New Year’s Day Polar Plunge

What a way to ring in a new decade!

The Voyageur Lions Club held their annual New Year’s Day Polar Plunge on January 1st at La Place Rendez-Vous. It brought in over $8,300 for all kinds of great causes!

I’m a member of the club, so it’s always a pleasure to emcee the freezing cold festivities…It’s also a great excuse to never actually jump into Rainy Lake myself. I admit it…I’m WAY too chicken to take a dip!

Thankfully roughly 12 groups and 30 jumpers were much braver than I was!

These jumpers went around with pledge sheets collecting money ahead of time for a charity or no profit or fundraising effort that means something to them. Then they split the money 50/50 with The Voyageur Lions Club who do so much good work across the region and right here in The Borderland.

Here are a few photos from the day. A big thank you to Lion Roz Calder who has shared some great pics with us! In fact most of these are screen shots taken from a video that she shot which you can check out on our 93.1 The Border Facebook page.

Here is a full list of the Jumpers…
