Curling Club Considering Bid For 2021 Provincial Championships

The Fort Frances Curling Club is exploring the possibility of hosting the northern Ontario provincial men’s and women’s curling championships in 2021.

As part of the planning, it’s asked for permission to use the 52 Canadian Rink as the venue.

President Ron Silver says the event is made available to clubs in their region every six years.

“The club is looking at bidding on it either within our own venue or with the help of the town. We would like to use the arena,” says Silver.

Silver says the use of the arena would improve the local club’s chances of being named the host.

“The Northern Ontario Curling Association will give the bid to an arena over a club setting. That’s how they want to compete.”

The club must make a formal application by the end of the year.
